Performability of Network Service Chains: Stochastic Modeling and Assessment of Softwarized IP Multimedia Subsystem

چکیده
Service provisioning mechanisms implemented across 5G infrastructures take broadly into use the network service chain concept. Typically, it is coupled with Network Function Virtualization (NFV) paradigm, and consists in defining a pre-determined path traversed by set of softwarized nodes to provide specific services. A well known chain-like framework IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), key infrastructure networks, that we characterize both performance an availability perspective. Precisely, supported designed from scratch testbed realized through Clearwater platform, perform stochastic assessment IMS (softIMS) architecture where two main stages stand out: i) analysis, where, exploiting queueing decomposition method, formalize optimization problem resource allocation modeling each softIMS node as $M/G/c$ system; ii) assessment, adopting Stochastic Reward Net methodology, are able behavior terms failure/repair events, derive optimal configurations satisfying given requirement (e.g., five nines) while minimizing deployment costs. Two routines dubbed OptCNT OptSearchChain have been devised govern analyses, respectively.

Next Generation Network Service Architecture in the IP Multimedia Subsystem
The objective of this research work is to provide the IP Multimedia Subsystem of UMTS with a SIPbased mechanism for managing the interaction, composition and reuse of a limited number of standardized Service Capabilities in order to develop the Next Generation Network (NGN) services. The service invocation mechanism that we propose in this paper is extensible to deal with the interaction and co...

data envelopment analysis (dea) is a powerful tool for measuring relative efficiency of organizational units referred to as decision making units (dmus). in most cases dmus have network structures with internal linking activities. traditional dea models, however, consider dmus as black boxes with no regard to their linking activities and therefore do not provide decision makers with the reasons...
On Network Service Modeling in Softwarized Networks
The Software Defined Network (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) architectures are composed of different functional blocks such as NFV Orchestrator, Virtualized Infrastructure Manager (VIM) and SDN controllers. These components are modeled as independent software with specific access, configuration, and management. They are connected mainly across of the Application Programming Inte...
متن کاملQuality of Service in the IP Multimedia Subsystem
The IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) is the evolution of the UMTS network towards an All-IP network supporting all the services working today through switched circuits plus new multimedia services (video call, VoIP, video streaming, presence, instant messaging, web access, etc.). As new services may require high restrictions in network parameters, the support for Quality of Service (QoS) is necess...

v Abstract With the emergence of mobile multimedia services, such as unified messaging, click to dial, cross network multiparty conferencing and seamless multimedia streaming services, the fixed–mobile convergence and voice–data integration has started, leading to an overall Internet–Telecommunications merger. The IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) is considered as the next generation service delive...
